In Re the Investigation of Client:
Represented client accused of sexual assault. Because a conviction would have constituted the client’s final strike, the stakes were extremely high. Through defense investigation and advocacy, the allegation was shown to be unfounded, and no charges were filed.
State v. Client:
Represented client charged with armed robbery and burglary. Following extensive defense investigation, it was established that the client had been lured to the scene and attacked by the complaining witness. Case dismissed.
State v. Client:
Represented client accused of participating in a conspiracy to defraud elderly individuals through a phone scam and charged with several serious felony offenses. After extensive defense advocacy with State and Federal prosecutors, charges were reduced to a simple misdemeanor eligible for later vacation.
State v. Client:
Represented client charged with burglarizing marijuana dispensaries. Effective defense advocacy and motions secured dismissal of all charges.
State v. Client:
Represented client charged with felony assault and facing both imprisonment and loss of employment if convicted. Through defense advocacy, negotiated an agreement with the State providing for dismissal upon successful completion of a treatment program.

Represented client charged with complex felony theft. Pretrial investigation uncovered flaws in the State’s case. After a lengthy trial, client was acquitted of all charges.
City v. Client:
Client charged with driving under the influence and hit and run after allegedly colliding with another vehicle and fleeing the scene. Defense suppression motions secured dismissal of the DUI charges, and after a negotiated disposition client avoided all jail time.
State v. Keller:
Represented juvenile client charged as an adult with First-Degree Assault for a drive by shooting incident. Defense investigation demonstrated that client was not a participant in the shooting. The First-Degree Assault was dismissed and the other charges were refiled in juvenile court.
Represented client accused of Rape in the Second Degree. Defense investigation demonstrated that there were several reasons to doubt the complaining witness’s veracity. Prior to trial the State dismissed all charges.
Represented client accused of assault with a firearm as well as assault with intent to commit a felony. A conviction in this case would have constituted the client’s final strike, and he would have been sentenced to life imprisonment if convicted. After a month-long trial client was acquitted of all felony charges and faced no additional custodial sentence.
As prosecutor, litigated case that reached the Washington Supreme Court. Successfully advocated for reversal of trial court’s suppression of all evidentiary breath tests; briefing was quoted with approval by Justice Gordon McCloud.
